Back to The Alan Taylor Collection

Lymm In Colour

Starting with a collection of close on 300 images that Alan Taylor has meticulously restored and coloured to bring the distant past into the present.  Some, like the photograph from around 1904 of “H” (Lymm) Company of the Cheshire Rifle Volunteers, needed extensive research to ensure the uniforms were correct in every detail. The results are stunning, with many people finding it hard to believe that they are looking at a picture that was taken 120 years ago!

Other notable photographers also include Bill Todd, who was a founder member and long serving committee member of Lymm Local History Society. Bill had a great interest in photography and from the late 1960s until his death in 1984 and built an archive of photos, documenting the changes happening within the local area.

And Jack Parkinson from The Online Transport Archive, whose profile can be found on their website, Newsletter 12 dated December 2019. Or by clicking this link to their website  -  Jack Parkinson
