Kevin Wilkinson Thelwall Ferryman.

Thelwall Ferry across the Manchester Ship Canal with the M6 behind.  At just 12p to cross to the other side, what great value! The nearby pontoon bridge was abandoned after an accident when two horses drowned in the 1940s.  However, the ferry, which is sculled by local man, Mr Kevin Wilkinson,  still carried around 600 passengers a year.
