A milepost on Booths Hill Road, of the former turnpike road from Warrington to Stockport, opened in the early 1820s. It is made of cast iron and shows place names with a mileage column to each side. The maker's name – Bellhouse - is cast on the stem. In the 20th century, it was moved westwards from over 100 metres away close to a farm site on Highfield Road, on the opposite side of the road. See image LH00184 to see this Milepost in its original location.
