1873, Mersey and Irwell Regatta at Warburton
Starting in 1873, there were rowing races as well as entertainment by the Bands of the 7th Dragoon Guards and 101st Fusiliers. Advance ticket were 1s and 6d or 2s and 6d at the gate with estimated crowds of thousands, enjoying this new August Bank Holiday Monday.
