The steam tug, Lymm model
The LYMM was one of a fleet of live in steam tugs with a crew of three, skipper,engineer and lad that worked the Bridgewater Canal and named after places along its route. They started work in 1875 and were in use until 1947. The Bridgewater Canal Co also owned Howley Quay in Warrington which was an important transhipment point on the River Mersey, so were used there also.
The model is on loan from the Boat Museum and is currently on display at the Lymm Heritage Centre.
It was made by Alfred Walley, a man that served aboard her.
