Eagle Brow, Coronation George V
Image taken on Eagle Brow with the G R surely referring to the Coronation of George V - so why 'God Bless our Queen'?.
However, in 1911, the country was crowning a new queen too. Mary, wife of George V was titled Queen of the United Kingdom and British Dominions. Perhaps the organisers of the festivities still had the sign from Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee - just as the village kept a supply of triumphal arches for such occasions.
