Eagle Brow, Coronation George V
Looking up Eagle Brow. A triumphal arch built for a celebration yet seemingly mixed messages. The G R surely refers to the Coronation of George V so why 'God Bless Our Queen'? Notably, in 1911, the country was also crowning a new Queen too. Mary, wife of George V was titled Queen of the United Kingdom and British Dominions.
Perhaps the organisers of these festivities had still retained the sign from Queen Victoria's Jubilee as the village had also kept a stock of triumphal arches for such occasions.
