Pepper Street: resett

Work first commenced on Longbutt Lane cutting back overhanging vegetation, removing the gate, gate posts, bollards and sign/sign post so that the access road to Orchard Avenue was wider to accommodate everyone during the works on Pepper Street. This also included the 'school run' from Ravensbank, proving problematic at times due to the high volume of traffic and the one way system controlled by lights.

The next phase was to overlay the existing road surface making  it easier for large vehicles, such as the refuse wagons, and vehicles with trailers (e.g. caravans) to drive in and out from Scholars Green Lane more easily.

Contractors then set up the site including a compound/storage area at the western end of  Rose Bank, carrying out any additional surveys and test pits needed ahead of the start of the reconstruction works that commenced 1st July 2024.

The reconstruction also included a temporary asphalt running surface which was then removed as the setts were laid from 29th July.

Information summary boards about the scheme were also made available to view at the Village Hall.
