Exhibition: 'Lymm a place of running water' (August 2018)
Getting ready for the opening for the exhibition, 'Lymm, a place of running water'.
On Thursday 21st August, we opened our exciting new exhibition about Lymm's links with not one but two canals, boat models, stories , costumes, artefacts and videos. We also had a special opening from 4 till 8pm to coincide with Foodfest. The official opening at 7pm was performed by Chair of Parish Council and newly elected Borough councillor Anna Fradgley.
In around 1905 local photographer, Pel Ardern lugged his equipment down to the Ship Canal to capture the engineering miracle of its time. The SS Manchester city bringing one of the largest ever consignments of imported meat into Manchester direct from River Plate in Argentina.
Did you know that 90 years ago Hopkinson's the butchers was a branch of The British Argentine Meat Company ? Neither did we !
