Meeting the LyDiA Team ...
Standing for Lymm Digital Archive and a key part of our wider heritage project. We have seen many pictures of old Lymm on our Facebook site and elsewhere - but it is important that these are stored securely and made easily accessible to all. After all, it's OUR heritage and we need to share it with friends, family, overseas readers, schools, researchers etc.
LyDia uses the latest technology, 'Pastview' from Townsweb Archiving, to store images but also to present them in a very user friendly way. That means a lot of enthusiastic work behind the scenes by our volunteers scanning, categorising etc and wherever possible adding that all important story behind the picture. We have around 3000 images in the archive with many more to add! We hope that other individuals and groups will see the value of adding their single photographs or collections to the archive and if you would like to be part of the archiving team, please do get in touch.
The purchase of the archiving software and associated equipment was made possible thanks to support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
