A visit to Hebden Bridge

Alan Williams and Glynis Allen were invited to the Birchcliffe Centre at Hebden Bridge, a former Baptist Chapel and now home to the Pennine Horizons Digital Archive. Here, they met Ann Kilbey and Frank Woolrych, to see the fantastic work they and their local team were doing, with financial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.  (The Team have since imported, categorised and secured over 50,000 historical images related to the town. Just take a look!)

It was an amazing resource, recording and securing its local history for future generations.  Used by schools, researchers and visitors as well as providing a collecting point for people's memories.  This was a positive example of how it could be done.
From Ann and Frank's initial support and encouragement, this provided the basis for the Lymm Archive and our bid for Heritage Lottery funding.
Sadly, Frank died in February 2020, but his legacy will be remembered for many years to come.
