Lymm Cross, 1918
It is Sunday June 2nd, 1918 and Lymm has responded to an appeal by the Chairman of Lymm Urban District Council to help Manchester and Salford Hospitals by holding a civic parade and service at St Peter's Church, Oughtrington. Chairman, Mr Cowper, was followed in the parade to the church by other members of the council.
The Lymm Band was led by Mr Nash. The Lymm tradesmen, special constables and firemen are all out of shot. But we can see Heatley Scouts under Scout Leader, T. Nash and Miss A. Pearce. Top left, is D Company of the Altrincham Battalion. (Lymm and Oughtrington Platoons) under the command of Lieutenant G. Williamson.
The church collection produced £16, roughly equivalent to £1000 in present day values.
