Statham Post Office and Grocers (Appleton’s)
You can still find this building at the far end of Star Lane at its junction with the original route of Whitbarrow Road. In the 1880s, it was run by Joseph Ball from Buxton. By 1900, the Appleton family, who ran the fustian cutting workshop on Narrow Lane, ran this shop. It was also the local Post Office and remained so for many years.
