Bridgewater Arms

The Bridgewater Arms stood on the site of what is now the Youth & Community Centre.

In the first part of the twentieth century it was run by the Kirkpatrick family. 

Their Sunday music sessions, led by William Kirkpatrick on his fiddle and son William on clarinet attracted a full house every week including many boatmen. 

After World War Two, with the pub closed, the building was used for emergency housing and also accommodated the Lymm over 60s club. It was finally demolished in February 1966 as part of what was referred to, rather unsympathetically, as Lymm's "slum clearance" project which also saw the demolition  of terraced streets like Clay Terrace. Many old fustian workshops like the ones on Cherry Lane and Booths Hill Road disappeared too.
