Lymm Fire Service
The site of this picture on Brookfield Rd is largely unaltered. There had previously been a Fire Station on Pepper St opposite what was then the school (now The Village Hall). Lymm Urban District Council managed its own fire service and had a number of tenders over the years. The horses came from a number of sources and it is reported that at one time there was a reward of 10 shillings for the owner of the first horse to arrive when the fire bell was sounded.
