Warburton Old Church wall painting.

In the late16th and early 17th centuries the chancel was remodelled by the addition of a pulpit, font, communion rails and table.

Extracts from the Bible and the Lords Prayer were painted on the northern and western walls of the nave.

As late as 1811 the parish records noted that it cost £10.7s.8d for relettering the Commandments etc.

The photograph was taken in the 1950s when the church was being whitewashed.

(Information was taken from the University of Salford book Warburton published in 2015.)
