The Hinde Family

Stanley Hinde with his wife Florence and son Eric. They were stewards of the Conservative Club and later The Church Green pub.  When it was demolished, they moved next door to the present premises which was formerly the Rectory. Stanley died in 1952 and Florence asked Eric to leave the Navy to help run the pub. Eric died in 1972.

(Both men shared the same nickname 'Stiffy' named after a cartoon character of the 1920s)
