The Watkin Family at Dane Bank
Alfred and Edith Watkin had five children, three girls and two boys. The eldest, Edith had married Villiers Loftus Philip Fawke in 1915 who was a diplomat, with their wedding taking place in Seoul cathedral.
Their second daughter and third child, Gwendolen had died aged 11 in 1899. Both sons were educated at Wellington College, Berkshire. The oldest son, Alfred junior, married Lettice Miller in 1911 whilst his younger brother Hugh, married Evelyn Hardacre in 1914.

Alfred junior, had worked in his father's business and during the war was captain in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Hugh was commissioned in 1908 and joined the Cheshire Regiment before the war. In 1931 however, Hugh Watkin married Phyllis Debell-Tuckett but was known by her middle name of Audrey.
