The Watkin Family at Danebank

In 1794, Danebank was home to Captain Domville Poole, High Sheriff of Cheshire. When he died in 1795, the property went up for sale.  In the second part of th 19th century, Dane Bank became a residential school for young ladies.

Here, this photograph relates to when it was home to wealthy cotton merchant and at some point Chairman for the Manchester Ship Canal, Alfred Watkin.

These are his sons, Captain and Mrs A.E.. Watkin and Captain and Mrs Hugh G Watkin at Danebank in May 1915.
