Ernest Lloyd

Ernest Lloyd, (b 1896), stood outside his home on Crouchley Lane, Chairman of Lymm Urban District Council during the 1930s.

He followed his father as Canal Inspector and became very active in the village as a Councillor, Chairman, school Governor and a joint founder of the British Legion branch in the village.  His wife Annie, owned and ran a small grocery and sweet shop on the corner of Higher Lane and Crouchley Lane.

Ernest's son Thomas, married Gladys Daniels of Sandy Lane in 1942 and follwed his father as Bridgewater Canal Inspector until his retirement in 1982. He still lived on Crouchley Lane until his death in 2005
