Lancashire Tool Company workers

The Lancashire Tool Company originally started in an old fustian workshop behind The Star Inn, in Statham.  Then during the First World War, it moved to Booths Hill Road. The business produced pliers and other small tools which were used mainly for telegraph maintenance work.  Many of the women workers were poached from the gold beating works as the wages were better.  Notably, the Company always had a good football team, winning many trophies.  Third from right, back row is William Pearson. Front row, second right seated wearing the dark dress is Frances Alice Arlott who later married William. (Grandparents of Carol Kerry, who has donated many images to this archive).
