Old setts exposed ...
Old setts exposed during tbe resurfacing Eagle Brow. April 2006
(Setts and cobbles are both extremely durable types of paving. Whilst cobbles and setts may look similar, setts are rectangular in shape. There were originally used on steep roads and provided horses hooves with a much better grip than a smooth surface. Cobbles are derived from the word 'cob' and are more rounded in shape).
