Torpedo boats, Bollin mouth

This is an illustration from a copy of Ardern's Guide to Lymm.

The date was May 20th 1912.  (This was confirmed by an article by Joe Griffiths published in a May Queen Programme quoting Log Books from Lymm Parochial School).

"May 20th 1912 - on Friday morning on the occasion of the Torpedo boats passing up the Ship Canal, the boys were allowed out an hour to  see them".

It doesn't seem much time to get from Pepper Street  to the mouth of the Bollin and back!
