Wreck of The Elk.
Lots of people know about the concrete badges in the old river by the ship canal but not many people know that the first boat there was a wooden dredger that was a former naval ship named Elk.
When we used to play there as children I was fascinated by the ships wheel and thought that if we could board her, I’d be able to get it. About ten years later the whole boat had disintegrated as on the photos.
