Duchess Countess Model
Duchess Countess was the most famous fast packet boat on the Bridgewater Canal pulled by two horses. It reputedly reached speeds of about six miles an hour and advertised a journey from Stockton Heath to Manchester in five hours, including ten minute stops at Lymm and Altrincham. All other traffic was required to give way, a large knife on the bow cut the ropes of anything that that didn't comply.
The model is on loan from the Boat Museum and is currently on display in the Lymm Heritage Centre.
