The Dane canal aqueduct

Before the steps and footbridge were built, we used to climb over the wall next to the under bridge and cross the river on a pipe which is now fenced off. Looking back I wonder why we never went under the tunnel, maybe the water was too high.

Crossing the Lymm Gorge was one of James Brindleys problems -  which he generally solved by taking to his bed and thinking it out!
