The Watkin Family at Dane Bank
In 1794, Dane Bank was home to Captain Domville Poole, High Sheriff of Cheshire. When he died in 1795, the property went up for sale. In the second part of th 19th century, Dane Bank became a residential school for young ladies.
Here, this photograph relates to when it was nome to wealthy cotton merchant and at some point Chairman for the Manchester Ship Canal, Alfred Watkin.
These are his sons, Captain and Mrs A.E Watkin and Captain and Mrs Hugh G Watkin at Dane Bank in May 1915.
