LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER CREATES UNIQUE RECORD OF LYMM LIFE!
Over sixty years after taking his first photographs of daily life in his home village, Alan Taylor is as committed as ever to preserving and sharing the history of Lymm. And in November 2021, a year long project comes to fruition with the publication of this new book, 'Historic Lymm in Colour'. It’s a collection of close on 300 images that Alan has meticulously restored and coloured to bring the distant past into the present. Some, like the photograph from around 1902 of “H” (Lymm) Company of the Cheshire Rifle Volunteers, needed extensive research to ensure the uniforms were correct in every detail. The result is stunning, with many people finding it hard to believe that they are looking at a picture that was taken 120 years ago.
The book also includes pictures from many other sources, a large number of which of which have never previously been published. And every picture tells its own story, with the narrative provided by regular collaborator, Alan Williams. It really is a unique contribution to the heritage of the village that belongs in the home of anyone who has any interest in Lymm's story.
